Dr. Jill completed her bachelors at the University of Waterloo and her masters and Ph.D. At University of Windsor, right here in Ontario. She completed her Practicum at the Oakridge Hospital for the Criminally Insane in Penetanguishene. She completed her internship at the Sinai Hospital of Detroit in the adult inpatient and outpatient wards. She completed her residency at Chedoke’s Child and Family Centre, affiliated with McMaster University in Hamilton, a children’s mental health center. She was trained in how to supervise during her residency at Chedoke. In this training, she had two therapists under supervision. She taught Psychology at Mohawk College in Hamilton for several years. She then worked as the Psychologist for the Region of Peel, at the Peel Children’s Centre, another children’s mental health center for tertiary level care. She then went into private practice where her therapy specialization has been with borderline personality disorder. She has extensive consultation experience with the police, Children’s Aid and others. Throughout her career, she has routinely dealt with the most difficult of cases. As far as supervision experience, she supervised several programs at PCC as well as numerous therapists. In her private practice, she had a multi-disciplinary clinic with several therapists under her supervision. Following the closing of this practice, she then continued to supervise numerous therapists in their own independent practices. In total, she has probably supervised in excess of a hundred therapists, many of whom are now Registered Psychotherapists. She also supervised several Registered Psychotherapists in the process of their becoming supervisors. So, why is Dr. Jill returning to therapy and consultation work at this time? Covid, of course. Mental health issues have become overwhelming to the system while therapists are now beginning to burn out. Therefore, she is leaving retirement for now. So it goes.
